Windows 10: Windows 10 desktop background image is acting weird

This should be a very simple question with a very complicated answer. I use a folder on my PC to store my background image files and have the shuffle setting turned on with a 1 minute interval. Whatever windows is using to shuffle the images seems to not always shuffle the images in 1 minute intervals so sometimes images will stay on the desktop longer than they should.
That is my main reason for asking a question.
My second problem with the shuffle setting is that there does not seem to be a very good randomization algorithm shuffling my image files. It's a black box to us users so I can't comment on it as much as I can the fact that images are staying on the desktop too long but it seems worth bringing up.

Has anyone else noticed this? Here is hoping that Microsoft will fix this in an update.

changing the background images

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.

• Press Windows Logo Key + I. Then click on Personalization.
• Click on Background to change it.

Lost desktop background

I did a Search & Distroy spyware scan the other day, and one of the suggested "fixes" said something about removing Active Desktop. Like the muppet I am I clicked yes and am now without a desktop background picture.

Does anyone have an idea how to reverse this? If I try to select a picture it's simply not added as a background.
