    Windows 10 Dialogue box used to have a yellow background now they are all white.


    After patch 1809 all of my popup dialogue boxes have a white background when they used to be yellow. I have tried to reset themes to default and change color settings to no avail. I used to be able to modify each background and text color in windows 7 very easily but in windows 10 it looks like it is not available. This is making life difficult especially with Autocad and excel. Please let me know if I can reset all display setting to windows default or change windows color options in a more granular fashion like windows 7.

    Good Evening!

    I just updated to Windows 10 Version 1903. Everything works great and no problems, except for this. I have had dark mode enabled for a while now and love it. However, after the update, the save file dialogue box that pops up when I need to save something
    and the "safely remove hardware and eject media" dialogue box in my system tray have now changed to a white font, which makes them almost unreadable. For some reason these two dialogue boxes have a white on white background and font. The regular windows
    explorer has a dark background with a white font which is perfect. Any suggestions how to fix this? I have scoured through every setting I can think of and am at a loss. I don't want to change my dark mode just for that.

    Hi Mike,

    Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

    Let us know if the issue persists with other program dialogue boxes as well.

    This might be a temporary issue on your computer.

    I suggest you to sign-in out from the current user account, restart the computer, sign-in and check if the issue persists.

    Also, try to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

    Steps:

    • Connect to the internet.
    • Press Windows key and type updates.
    • Click on Check for updates.
    • Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
    • Try to install the updates being shown.

    Hope it helps. Update us the status of accessing text in program dialogue boxes for further assistance.

    Hi, many people like you have commented on this sad decision by MS before, which is where the registry change comes from. (Windows 8 introduction).

    Maybe Windowblinds (when available for Win 10) will offer a solution again- that's the only possibility I know of that will offer more extensive changes.

    The whit(ish) background in some MS & many 3rd party programs (but not explorer or some system dialogues, control panel etc) is addressed by the registry changes I mentioned. For example, word processing programs, background to the search box (start menu), Recuva, browse dialogues in many programs (but not all), Winrar.... just to give some random examples.

    Because MS removed the dialogue that allowed changes to the GUI in order to effectively force a more uniform appearance across devices (and that effect on the background used to include explorer as I recall), the only way to make these changes is to use the registry. It's sad, but there it is. Many people have wanted to change the white background for everything, but there is no simple way.
