  1. Windows 10 Digital License Activation not working after hardware change.

Hello, I'm at my wits end here. Long story short, I've had Windows 10 Education for a few years now that I got from my college through OnTheHub and I recently did a motherboard/CPU upgrade. Before the swap, I made sure my MS account was linked to my Windows 10 digital license, but once I made the hardware change, Windows deactivated itself. I tried contacting OnTheHub support to try and get the product key and they told me MS deletes their order records after a year of not logging in. I've tried the steps below:

Ran the trouble shooter under the Activation Settings. It gives me an error saying it can not activate.

Chatted with the Virtual Assistant who told me to give my installation ID by running SLUI 04. (all that did was bring up a Enter Product Key prompt, but I was able to get my installation ID with the CMD slmgr.vbs /dlv.) After giving the ID it said it had trouble activating and had me contact support over the phone.

Support was useless, said they couldn't do anything without the product key. I had him enter the Installation ID and he told me it was never activated? Told me if I didn't have the product key I would have to purchase another license.

I went at far as putting everything back together with my old motherboard and Windows 10 activated with no issue with the old hardware. I double checked and my digital license was linked up to my MS account.

Has anyone gone through this and had a solution? Should I just keep calling support until I get someone that will try to help me out more thoroughly? The MS site explicitly states that the Digital license should carry over with my MS Account, so I have no idea why I am having this issue.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Uninstall (delete, remove) the Windows 10 digital license from old hardware, after reactivating it on new (similar) hardware, after hardware change

    Hi,

I recently was able to reactivate my Windows 10 digital license on new (only on similar, same type laptop to laptop) hardware, by linking my Microsoft account. I followed the steps mentoned in

Reactivating Windows 10 after a hardware change
    .

I find that the old hardware, still has an activated digital license of Windows.

I need to uninstall the digital license from the old hardware, in such a way that it will not activate, on its own, and will not invalidate the digital license on my new hardware, at all.

Please advice me, as I would like to transfer my digital license to my new hardware, completely, and permanently. I require my old hardware to not be having the digital license, at all, and the digital license to be completely deleted from it.

    Windows 10 Hardware change

Technically it should not activate if its a upgrade from an OEM license. But if you follow the phone automated number sequence hopefully it will work.

Windows 10 is tied to your hardware and you cannot upgrade a motherboard on an OEM license. (but it works with the phone activation) you can only replace the board with an identical board.

  4. Windows 10 Digital License Activation not working after hardware change.

Transferring Windows Digital License after significant hardware change

I've significantly upgraded my PC (new motherboard, storage), to the point where Windows 10 doesn't recognise it as the device I had my Windows 10 digital license on. When I go to settings - activation, I get error code 0xc004f213 which states no product
key was found on this device (I'm signed into my microsoft account which has the digital license from before). I proceed to trouble shoot, and then click I recently changed hardware on this device. It proceeds to take me to a screen which lists my devices,
but it only shows my Laptop which is running a separate product key/digital license (I bought windows 8.1 for my laptop and took the free upgrade, whereas this desktop PC was on windows 7 before I upgraded to 10). My PC isn't showing on this list.

I've been using this guide Re-activating Windows 10 after hardware change

So how do I go about re-activating my Windows 10 Digital License on this device? Also, is livechat only open at certain times? because I've been trying to find it but I get directed to this forum and a phone number instead.

If this classes as a new PC due to the motherboard change do I need to buy a new version of Windows? If so, then is the license fixed to my old motherboard?
