Windows 10: Windows 10 Disk Partition Corrupted during Recovery

Perhaps I can get a pointer in the right direction, I will try and keep it short.


On Oct 14 my laptop seemed to be slow so I decided to do a roll-back with system restore, well it never recovered and went into a recovery loop I could not get out of. I thought I had made a recovery disk but apparently not, 2 weeks out of coverage.


I have ordered the original recovery disk from HP, but being impatient and not wanting to wait I purchased a download program "Guaranteed to Fix" my pc. I have gone from

I can still get access to my disk drive but I now have multiple partitions and my "C" drive now shows as "E" and my recovery screens are non existant, the tool I bought seems to have re created all the partitions on my hard drive, can this be repaired using diskpart?


I am dead in the water waiting for my "original recovery disks" from HP!

Will deleting the factory partition render the recovery disk useless?

More than likely it is of no use NOW . The recovery disk is nothing more than drivers and some BS . You will not get the OS and recovering from a recovery disk only works if the drive partition is fine and has been untouched by any one .
The best thing to do is delete all the partitions and just install windows on the HDD make your own recovery disk and your done not to mention you get all that drive space back .

 

How To: Create recovery partition.

it worked when i copied all the files of the disk to the recovery partition i created, but i had to use WinPE tab to add the entry.

Type: WIM Image (Ramdisk)
Name: Recovery
Path: Z:\Sources\boot.wim
and hit Add Entry
I tried it in VirtualBox and it worked.
At first, it would add a second "Windows 7" entry to the list, but when the installation is finished, the old one is deleted. (I formatted only C: partition)

 

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
