    Windows 10 display issue

I have a generation 1 Surface Studio desktop that I recently updated and since doing so everytime I turn on my computer it goes through the grey boot screen with the windows logo and then after a little while the logo turns red, splits in half and then my display goes dead. I can tell even though the display is off that I’m at the login screen as i can type my password and hit enter and it sounds like it logs me in, but havent been able to run any programs or see anything at any point.

So far I’ve tried to roll back the previous two updates, and that did nothing. I try to go to a restore point, but it says they’ve all been removed, which is odd. Ive tried reseting my computer via the recovery menu and it fails before completing and spits me back out into the recovery menu. Ive booted in safe mode and that actually lets me see my desktop and I was able to remove all of my files in the case that I need to wipe the machine, but would love to not have to do so.

Additionally, I was up to date with Windows Defender and do not think this has anything to do with a malicious attack of some kind.

Would love to hear anyones thoughts on this before taking the plunge and starting from scratch.

    Thanks!

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
