Windows 10 Display Too Big for Monitor (HDTV) Intel Graphics 630

Hi, All - I've had this issue since purchasing my new PC.

    DETAILS ON PRODUCT:
    HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-P030
Lubin Motherboard (Chipset H270, Processor socket LGA 1151)
    Intel Core i7-7700 3.6 GHz
    12 GB RAM DDR4-2400 PC4-19200
    Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630

I'm connected by HDMI cable from the PC to my Magnavox 39" 720p HDTV.

My screen cannot contain the entire display. It's been normal and fit on the screen before, but I disconnected then reconnected the HDMI cable and now the resolution is now stuck at a size that obscures the edges of the working area.

Trouble is that I can't see the edges of the display area, as it bleed off the edge of the screen. So my Windows button, minimize/maximize/close buttons on every window and any icons in the edges of any window are completely inaccessible.

I've been everywhere trying to find a fix for this. HP has been unhelpful, giving me all kinds of super-basic suggestions that don't address the main problem - there's no adjustment to fix this.

None of the available or customized screen resolutions to me will address the problem properly (either in the Intel software or Windows Display settings).Troubleshooting doesn't recognize that there's any problem.

I've uninstalled the graphics driver and restarted to allow Windows 10 to re-install the driver.

I did the same thing with the display driver.

Biggest problem I have is that everything I've seen thus far doesn't address Intel HD Graphics 630 and it's settings.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update promised to address some of these problems. No dice.

I was able to update the graphics driver after the Fall Creators Update - didn't help.

I uninstalled the display driver again and restarted to allow Windows 10 to re-install the driver. Nothing.

There's no overscan (either on the tv or the software) occurring and Intel HD doesn't allow to fix *with* overscan so that I can adjust the size of the display.

Does anyone know how to address this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to see my entire display again.

A brand new PC should work properly - but it doesn't.

    Thanks in advance!

    Pax, harmonia,

    Brian G. Philbin

    :)

  2. Adding a third monitor

I have 2 monitors connected to my windows 10 HP desktop. I am trying to add a third through USB with no luck (NO SIGNAL). My display adapter is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 630. The third device is a Visio tv/monitor. I am using a HDMI to USB converter.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  3. Windows 10 screen resolution too big for moniter

My Windows 10 screen resolution is too big for my monitor. Its recommended at 1920 x 1080, full HD and my monitor has a 23" Full HD screen and I have Intel Integrated HD Graphics and I just updated to Windows 10 2 days ago.

    Mine is an Intel 530.

Process: Control Panel > Display > Change display settings > Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties > Monitor tab > Monitor Settings--Screen refresh rate

    Typically, 60 Hertz is desired.

Sounds like an option on your tv remote menu...look for screen fit in the display settings... *Cool

There's no "Advanced" option available in Display Settings. It's already at 60 Hz.

See Display Settings window posted below.

Unfortunately, not the issue. I've been through every setting in the TV. Further, no setting on the TV had been changed.

Turns out that if it were a problem with the TV, it'd be that an overscan option was interfering, however, that's not the case.

    BTW, welcome to the forum.

In your screenshot, just below 'Detect', there is 'Display adapter properties'. That should lead to Monitor tab. Although 60 Hertz is 60 Hertz.

1088 x 612 -- that is an odd configuration! Why isn't it 1280 x 720 for a 720 high def monitor? Anything less than 720 is standard def.

I have HP machines using HDMI. With each Update of Windows 10, Microsoft changes my Graphics Adapter with a generic driver of same name signed by M$, I have to change the HDMI settings and the TV display fit settings each time I plug in. Of course then I have to re-install the original driver from AMD. One HDMI setup is through the Cable box and another in Display settings of the TV. My TV reverts to the native resolution settings but once I re-install the original Display adapter driver and then set 'Fit Screen' in the TV Display settings, it fixes the problem you have described.

The 1088x612 was a custom resolution experiment to see if reducing the DPI would bring the edges in at all. Didn't work.

Yeah, getting into the Display Adapter Properties has also yielded no positive results. That's the point from which I uninstalled the device (Adapter tab > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall Device) and the Monitor (Monitor tab > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall Device), as mentioned in the initial post.

I used to have AMD onboard graphics, which was much easier to work with. Intel is so proprietary, it's almost impossible to adjust. And their resident software stinks.

Again, the TV settings aren't shifting at all. Plus, there's no "fit screen" option in the Magnavox menu or format settings, just differing aspect ratios that don't re-fit the screen properly.
