The computer has 8 GB RAM.
How many RAM modules are there?
If there are 2 or more RAM modules please remove all RAM modules except 1 and perform Memtest86+ version 5.01 for 8 or more passes on each RAM module.
Please use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post the images into the thread.

There were multiple tests that have reported problems with the drive.
To back up the files on the drive you can perform the Kyhi method or place the drive into a hard drive enclosure and transfer the files.

    Hard drive enclosures are inexpensive.

Please post details into the thread on all of the steps that you made to get memtest86+ version 5.01 to boot after having boot problems.

I have put the failing hard disk on a hard disk enclosure and connected it to a different system. On Windows system it takes a very long time to load and after sometime hardware stops responding. On Ubuntu after manually mounting partitions of the disk I was able to start copy of data. However, the copy was very slow and again disk stopped responding abruptly.

Please let me know how I can recover the data...

Just 1 error is malfunctioning RAM. So each RAM module needs to be tested 1 module at a time in the same DIMM to see which module is malfunctioning. If the RAM modules pass when tested 1 at a time after failing when tested together the DIMM / Motherboard needs to be tested by moving 1 RAM module to another DIMM and repeating the Memtest86+ version 5.01 for 8 or more passes.

For each memtest86+ version 5.01 test please use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread.

What happened with the Kyhi method?

Urk... I hope is just the sticks (more likely), having those errors with RAM sucks...
By now, unless you really need it, I just would call that disk a goner, your HDD is dead, just like one WD Blue I had years ago. The reason why all the bootable media for reinstalling windows failed.

Just to add to the valuable help of @zbook, did you have recent power peaks or current problems lately or when your system hanged? Because the problems you are having sound to me like your MoBo got an electric shock and caused many issues... and that probably fried your HDD and caused a problem with your RAM (if not being the RAM slot damaged itself).

    Cya!

Like it was mentioned above.. Your HDD is probably dying. You have to decide how much value the data on it has to you. One more thing to try is to put it (your disk) into that second machine, to eliminate external enclosure malfunction...

When you successfully mounted drive in linux - were you able to get some data from it? Try to get some more (some areas may be damaged, so try different drive sections). When done, try to repair it with checkdisk.

Minitool partition Wizard have some data restoring capabilities, as does TestDisk utility.

Repairing drive (electronics) and professional data restoration is very expensive..

Well, now the hard disk is not getting detected on Windows 10. I ran 'diskpart' and it was not able to detect the hard disk either when I ran 'list volume'. *Sad

Btw, I have got a new hard disk and re-installed Windows 10 from the recovery disk. My laptop is functional again, but I really need to get the data from the old hard drive.

Many times data can be recovered for free by:
    1) moving the malfunctioning drive into another computer bay and then transferring files/folders.
    2) moving the malfunctioning drive into an external drive enclosure and then transferring files/folders

If the above methods fail there are:
    1) companies that sell software to repair drives
    2) companies that are in the business of data recovery.
