Windows 10: Windows 10 DVD Player

Hello, I'm very frustrated that this Windows 10 laptop, with a DVD player device installed, doesn't come with the software to use it. I refuse to pay for software that use to, and should continue, come with your products. As it is, I have already had to replace hardware on this laptop and don't expect compensation for all of my time spent troubleshooting either of these issues.


This laptop isn't much use to me without the ability to play DVDs so would like Microsoft to provide the software free of charge. Expecting end users to pay $15+US for a poorly-reviewed product that *should* accompany the related device is confusing and aggravating. The rest of my household uses imacs. I wasn't looking to change but this inconsiderate customer service leaves an unforgettably negative impression and has me feeling taken for granted.

Windows DVD Player FUBAR

In order to assist you better could you please confirm whether you're using the Windows 10 DVD player App or Windows Media Player (DVD).

I suggest you to update the drivers from the Device Manager and see if this helps. Follow the steps below to do the same:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the DVD/CD ROM Drives.
• Right-click on the mentioned drive and click on Properties.
• Go to Drivers Tab and click on Update.
• Restart the computer and check.

Unable to play DVDs on Windows Media Player, Windows 10

• What exactly happens when you try to play DVDs on Windows Media Player?
• Are the DVDs being detected on your computer?

I suggest you to run Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter find and fix problems with playing DVDs in Windows Media Player.

Steps:

• Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
  and select it.
• Click on View all in the left pane.
• Click onWindows Media Player DVD and follow the onscreen instructions.
