Just an idea.

Are you able to remove the apps from within your MS account (by logging in)? I know you can remove devices but don't know about apps.

 

I don't think you can. I have that same problem. Stupid games like Candy Crush in my account that I've never installed ever...

No, you can't, that's my beef. Most of those Apps listed there, I never ever used and immediately uninstalled the first time I logged in. Same deal if you try an App, and don't like it. You can uninstall it from your device but its forever yours in My Library. My Library is almost useless for me now, its littered with junk I'll never install again making it a pain to find the few I do want and use.

 

Yeah I was just about to post that. I had a quick look-see and it's not possible. I've even got multiple entries for a single app that I have never used and don't want!! *Sad

 

Ok, so it looks like MS takes the same approach that Apple takes. You cannot remove downloaded apps from Apple account or MS account.

Interestingly, only Google Play allows the user to remove apps from their account.

 

It would make sense for purchased Apps. If you deleted one by accident you'd have to buy it again. I don't see the point for free Apps though? Plus, why is this DVD Player App excluded from the list? It never ever shows up in your "My Library". Unless you actually buy it I guess? If it was added when installed, as per originally having Media Center, and not lost again on a clean install. Nobody would have to go through all this trickery to get it back again. I'm not going to reinstall Windows 8.1 Pro plus MC and upgrade to 10 pro every time, just to get this App. I'm not running or installing anything from an untrusted source either. Also, if you never had Media Center, what's to stop you from installing it anyway? As per those instructions? Legal? I don't think so. Not for me to judge what others do so you can make up your own minds. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

 

That IS why. It's not a free app, plain and simple. If you upgraded from a computer with Media Center, you get it for free, but on a per-computer basis. That's why I just paid the 15 bucks to get it in my account so I can install it wherever.

Google Play lets you remove paid apps. I've bought some that ended up being really stupid and removed them *Tongue
It's worth noting that Google's making it a bit harder to do though, you used to be able to select a bunch of them at once and delete, now you have to do it one by one, the only option if you select more than one is to install them.

 

This is all well and good but how about a free app that plays Blu-ray. I have never been able to find one that actually works and /or will play BluRay from disk.

 

I don't think there are any free programs that play Blu-ray. Too much copyright nonsense. I use PowerDVD for it, but that's not free... I ponied up and bought a copy. Though, when I built my desktop and bought a BD drive, it came with an OEM version of WinDVD that was fairly limited, but did play BDs.

 

Actually there is a link to one in another thread. I downloaded it and it works great. I don't know how they got around the licensing issues but they apparently did. It works in Windows 10 perfectly. The only feature I couldn't find is a resume playback. If I stopped the playback, it started back at the beginning. Other than that, it's great.

OK. I get the hoopla about all of the "apps". My problem is that my DVD's won't read, or play anything! Since it read the .ISO, and installed this crap OS, Windows 10 Pro, that eventually "updated" to "Windows Professional Insider Preview Evaluation copy Build 10532", it hasn't read a DVD since! It just went retarded, and that is all! What's my fix? Or, is there a "fix"?

 

Sorry, but unfortunately there is no known fix for the retardation of an operating system. *Smile

Drivers aren't the problem, it's usually the Upper and Lower Filters in the registry that is corrupted:
