Windows 10: WINDOWS 10 Error 0x800700c1

I have Windows 10. The pc I have is a HP 15, which was set back to factory defaults, and the C drive on THIS PC shows plenty of space My issue is that there are 7 updates security, feature, cumulative, etc... which all fail to update. I have tried to restore it, but the option is showing unavailable with HP. The error codes are all Error 0x800700c1.

I am only running Defender, with a "malicious tool" download.

I can see where the notebook has had Avast installed in the past.

Is there something obvious that I am missing here?

Could my disk be "corrupted", and if so, will the fact that I am not recognized as the OWNER, in a command prompt fixable?

I have got the error 0x800700C1 and could not update KB3115259, KB3167685, KB3163018 & KB3149135 since a week ago. I tried both you two methods but the result was the same. I don't wish to follow hbja to go back to "Factory Setting". Can you help me sort
it out with other solutions?

I suggest you to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Follow these steps to run Windows Update
troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type
  troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Windows Update troubleshooter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

If the issue persists, follow next method.

Method 2:

I suggest you to check if the services responsible for Windows update is running. Refer to these steps:

• Press Windows key +R, type “services.msc”
• Locate the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer
  and the Windows Update Services and check if it is running.
• If not, right click on the service and click start to start the service.

Windows 10 Updates still not taking (Error 0x800700c1)

Steps 1-3 completed, on Step 4: no pop-up box with Defer upgrades option.

There was a drop-down box for "Notify to schedule restart" (this was selected) and another for "Automatic." I changed to Automatic and attempted to download and install upgrades again. No luck. I also followed the link to the Microsoft Update Catalog to
manually download and install Updates.
