  2. Event Viewer/Custom View Error Message after update KB4503293

An error message is now appearing in Event Viewer/Custom View following update KB4503293. See here:

    https://www.ghacks.net/2019/06/12/windows-10-event-viewer-error-after-installing-kb4503293-and-kb4503327/

I am not a techie and cannot play around with registry and I a reluctant to try the other work around mentioned here. Can anyone tell me please, will Microsoft eventually issue an update to repair this problem?

Sounds like a good reason not to update to 1809 and 1903. I have updated to 1903!

  3. Event Viewer/Custom View Error Message after update KB4503293

    Hi Judes,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Microsoft has provided a solution here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/help/4508640

Event Viewer may close or you may receive an error when using Custom Views

When trying to expand, view, or create Custom Views in Event Viewer, you may receive the error, "MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it." and the app may stop responding or close. You may also receive the same error when using Filter Current
Log in the Action menu with built-in views or logs. Built-in views and other features of Event Viewer should work as expected.

    Affected platforms:

    Client: Windows 10, version 1903; Windows 10, version 1809; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10, version 1803; Windows 10, version 1709; Windows 10, version 1703; Windows 10, version 1607; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2016; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
    2015; Windows 8.1; Windows 7 SP1

    Server: Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1; Windows Server 2008 SP2

Workaround: To mitigate this issue, see KB4508640.

Next steps: We are working on a resolution and estimate a solution will be available in late June.

Back to top OS Build 18362.175

Windows 10: Event Viewer error after installing KB4503293 and KB450332

Event Viewer problem with latest Windows Build 1607

After installing the new Windows build 1607, the Event Viewer stopped recording events under Diagnostic Performance. (Before 1607 I checked the files located under Windows.old dated 9/23/2016 and located this file which indeed did have a list of events
    recorded.)

Since the initial 1607 download there have been two new builds automatically installed on my laptop.

The last step in an automatic download is the RESTART. Prior to my rebooting, I checked the Diagnostic Performance and for sure, these had the list of events.

Rebooting by me, causes the Diagnostic Performance errors to disappear.

As suggested earlier I have run the SFC/DISM commands with no errors reported.

    Any Ideas?

    Nancy
