Windows 10: windows 10 Explorer is impossibly slow

Windows Explorer has become impossibly slow. I don't mean it takes a long time. I mean it NEVER reaches the end of the green bar. It seems like windows are just not indexing my folders anymore. Now, I must admit that I am a photographer and I have hundreds of thousands of photos. I know that folders with a large number of files will be slower. I know this. But they should only be slower, if I am viewing those folders in thumbnail view for the first time. Once windows has created an index of the thumbnails of that folder, subsequent visits should be much faster. But I am not just having this problem when viewing in thumbnail mode. This is occurring when I am viewing in DETAIL mode.


This is the problem. It does not matter what mode I view a folder with a large number of files, Explorer can NEVER fully index them, even in DETAIL view mode. I have been using Windows since version 95. I have never had this kind of problem. I have the useless Troubleshooter and found no problems with Search and Indexing not that it has EVER fixed a single problem. I do not know why the troubleshooter even exists. It never fixes ANYTHING! Not once in since its invention has it ever helped me.


I like Windows 10, but Explorer has been a pain since I upgraded to 10. I thought with time Microsoft would improve it, but it has just gotten worse and worse. Now it does not work at all. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
