  1. Windows 10 Explorer - Quick Access Bar Full of Pinned Folders

I was organizing a large subsystem of folders on my computer when I accidentally selected the "pin to Quick Access" button, pinning around 1000 folders to my quick access bar at once. I use the Quick Access quite often to immediately access locations that I often use, so I began to clear out the pins only to find out I could only remove one pin at a time. This would take me hours on end to clear out one-by-one.

I have tried searching the internet to no avail. I tried to simply move all of the pinned folders to a different location in hopes that they would be automatically removed from Quick Access. However, they still remained pinned, although the filesystem gave me the error that they had been moved when I clicked on them. When I tried to remove one of the moved folders from the pins, Windows Explorer chugged for a moment, then crashed and rebooted. Upon restarting, the Quick Access dragdown was completely disabled until I rebooted the entire computer.

Highlighting the folders in their source location and clicking the "pin to Quick Access" button also has no effect.

How do I either clear my pins or remove more than one of the ~1000 pinned folders at once? Any help would be much appreciated.

    :)

  2. Quick Access bar

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty.

    Remove items from Quick access.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the file or folder.
    • Select the option “unpin from the quick access”

To pin items to an item already on the quick access bar.

    Follow the below steps.

I would suggest you to create folder in the desktop screen & place all the files or folder which need to pin to the quick access.

    • Open the quick access.
    • Select the Desktop option.
    • Right click on the folder & select the option “pin to quick access”

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  4. Windows 10 Explorer - Quick Access Bar Full of Pinned Folders

Can't pin any folder to Quick access in file explorer

This fixed Quick Access for me too and I can now pin folders to Quick Access without the "The parameter is incorrect" error. This fix also brought the "Locked" category with the Quick Access folders to the right click menu of the taskbar icon for File Explorer.
Before this fix I had nothing but "File Explorer", "Unpin from taskbar" and "Close window" showing when right clicking on the taskbar icon. I'm currently missing the "Recent files" category and the ability to pin files or folders to the taskbar. When trying
to pin a file to the taskbar it only shows up in the Quick Access folder.
