Windows 10: windows 10 facebook messenger no audio on voice call

Hello

several months ago I got a call through facebook messenger on my windows 10 laptop (using google chrome) and everything worked fine. Made few more calls after that and everything worked and audio was very clear on my external speakers.

A week ago I got a call from the same facebook user and he could hear me but I could NOT hear any audio. I could see that the call was connected as the seconds ticked by. I tried muting and unmuting the microphone, didnt help. I even went on to my windows settings/privacy/microphone and turned on the microphone for messenger and also rebooted my PC and also signed out of facebook and signed back in. I tried at least 10 calls outgoing and incoming from 2 different people and only twice I heard audio for a split second.


Any help would be appreciated.

facebook messenger voice calls and video calls not working with windows 10 edge

We would suggest you configure the privacy settings of your device to
allow the Messenger app to use your camera and microphone to enable the voice and video calls on Facebook. For further
information about privacy settings, refer to this

link. You can also follow the
steps below:

• 
  Press the Windows icon, go to
  Settings.

  Click
  Privacy.
  
• 
  Go to
  Camera. Make sure that it is turned
  on and that the Messenger app on under
  Choose apps that can use your camera
  is set to
  On.
  
• 
  Go to
  Microphone. Make sure that it is also turned on and that the Messenger
  app on under Choose
  apps that can use your microphone
  is set to
  On.

As announced in Facebook blog, they said:

rich features, like voice and video calling, games, and bots for Messenger. Using older versions of apps means that experiences won’t work well or sometimes not at all. As a result, we are asking people who are using older versions to upgrade so they can enjoy
more of the delightful features of Messenger.

We will be ending support for messaging in some older mobile app versions of Messenger and Facebook. We have proactively reached out to those affected and have also offered suggestions right in Messenger. These
include updating your app to the latest version, loading an OS update for your device or migrating to Facebook Lite. If your devices do not support the newest versions of Facebook, we recommend going to Facebook.com through your mobile browser.

By the end of March, we will be ending support for messaging on the following older mobile app versions:

• Android
  • Facebook for Android v55, released on November 16, 2015, and below.
  • Messenger v10, released on August 14, 2014, and below.
• iOS
  • Facebook for iPad v26, released on October 10, 2011, and below.
  • Messenger v8, released on July 14, 2014, and below.

• Windows
  • Facebook for Windows Phone.

Windows 10 Facebook & Messenger Apps


Hi All

Just touching base on Windows 10 Facebook & Messenger Apps. They still aren't working on my end. Even after the latest update. Which was Sat 15/10/ 2016.

Any suggestions & ideas, would be appreciated. Thankyou.
