Windows 10: Windows 10 failed authentication

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 w Nvidia gpu and i7 cpu.


After I shut down my laptop last night, I boot it up this morning to find that my usual password is not accepted In the startup login menu. It is the same password I have used every time.


Upon further analysis, when I try to connect to a network, there are no networks showing and just an option for airplane mode.


It is not an issue with the network, as I am using my phone connected to my wifi to type this.


I believe this could be caused by a windows automatic update when I shut down my laptop. It either messed up my network drivers or idk. Any help would be appreciated, as I have never had this problem before.


I have tried hard resetting, safe mode with networking, nothing helps.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
