Windows 10: Windows 10 File Explorer Issues

Hi,

I have been having problems with my file explorer for a while now, however I have just noticed it recently.

Let me explain the "symptoms" that I am having:

1 When I double-click the File Explorer icon in an attempt to open it, my screen turns black for a split second, the taskbar refreshes and File Explorer does not open after the screen comes back to life.


2 When I am in any program e.g. Photoshop and I do Ctrl+Shift+S or go to File>Save As, the 'Save As' window pops up for around 2 seconds however it is unresponsive and there are no files, it is just the blank interface of the pop-up window however it does not work, so basically the File Explorer pop-up within an application does not work - this is the same in Chrome image attached, I had to drag and drop. The pop-up stays frozen like seen in the image for a few seconds and then it crashes and we are just back on the website again.


3 Whenever I somehow manage to open File Explorer on my desktop, it stays open for 0.5 seconds and crashes immediately. This has gotten worse in the past week and I don't know why.


A few things that I have already tried:

- All Windows updates are up to date

- I have tried going to File Explorer options and setting the Launch Location from "Quick Access" to "This PC"

- I have tried restarting File Explorer from the Task Manager

- I have restarted my PC


Hopefully somebody knows how to fix this major issue, as File Explorer is basically unusable.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows Explorer Replacement?

I don't use Internet Explorer, I meant the thing where you can look at files etc. Hotkey Windows+E. Maybe it's the wrong name in english though. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).
