  1. windows 10 file explorer recursive file search not working porperly

on my 64 bit windows 19 laptop I performed a file search looking for all "*.xml" files under a directory. It correctly found the 3 files I expected to find but it also found another XML file which does NOT exist under the directory tree. I used my favorite windows searching utility and scanned my entire hard drive. There was only 1 hit on that "extra" XML file and it was not under the tree I was searching. Also for the 3 files it properly found, when I hover the mouse over the icons one of the attributes that is displayed is the fully qualified path to the file. For this "extra" file no path was shown.

I rarely use file explorer but sometimes, such as when I have my smartphone connected to my laptop I have no choice but to use windows 10 file explorer to search for files.

Why does windows 10 file explorer find this extra file ?

    :)

  2. File Explorer Search Not Working

I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
