Windows 10: Windows 10 File History failure to backup

Hello all,

I have a Seagate NAS 2-bay business storage device that serves as the backup for my Surfacebook. Initially it was backing up well, however recently the device is failing to backup. File history will run for a few seconds then state no change, i.e. it still states that the most recent backup was a few months ago.


There are quite a few entries in the event log. The most recent ones state that a certain file couldn't be backed up. The last backup I did was with my Mac OSX and I did not partition the drives.


Any help greatly appreciated

File History never copies anything

Hi,

Temporary system failure is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. To help resolve the issue, we suggest deleting the files in the USB drive. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings > Update & Security > Backup > More Options.
  
• Click Stop using this drive.
  
• Delete the File History folder on your external drive.
  
• Try again to add the USB drive to backup File History.

File History does not backup automatically

Thank you for writing us back.

I would suggest you to go through the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key+I.
  
• 
  Click on Update and security.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on backup and select on under automatically back up my files.
  
• 
  Click on more option under on button.
  
• 
  Select every hour (default) under back up my files.
  
• 
  Select forever (default) under keep my files.
