  1. Windows 10 File History not backing up properly?

So around a month ago I was trying to set up file history in case my PC broke. I had it set to save on an internal HDD that I kept games on and such. I remember it wouldn't work but I couldn't figure out why and I forgot about it. Now I am trying to set it up again and I found out that it did make a copy around that time even though I don't remember it doing so. Figuring that it works now I tried to run it again but I get a message saying that Windows needs to scan and repair my drive, even though it works perfectly. I run the scan tool which took about 15 minutes and now when I press the button to back up it says it is doing it but nothing happens. Does anybody know how I can fix this and make sure it is backing up when I want it to? I don't want it to regularly back up just when I want it to, so I only turn it on when I want to back it up if that helps.

    :)

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
