    Windows 10 frustration

Actually, you also have another option depending on the size of your hard drive installed. You can make a bootable USB/DVD of Kyhi's recovery drive. Use the partitioning program on it to shrink the OS partition to the smallest size it will let you. If the OS partition is at the end of the hard drive, that is even better because you can shrink the OS partition to the smallest size and move it to the end of the hard drive. Then you would delete all the partitions in front of it, and do a clean install to the unallocated space left at the beginning of the hard drive. Your OS partition that you shrink and move to the end of the drive would be your "backup image". I've fixed many friends computers this way, and when everything is retrieved off the "backup image" contained on their own hard drives, then delete that old partition and either create a data partition in the space or extend the OS partition into it.

But you basically need a clean install of Windows 10 to really fix your problem correctly and ensure it doesn't return, at least through the next several Windows 10 updates in the future.

And finally, we understand why you have that extra option on your screen.

If you want Windows 7 back then why don`t you just reinstall Windows 7 ?

You can then create a Windows 10 install DVD should you ever want to clean install W10.

Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums

And we will gladly post the direct Microsoft link to download an iso file of the W7 version you want so you can burn it to dvd or create a usb installer.

That is if you do not have a W7 installer.

Still baffled as to why your usb keyboard is not working.

You can download Windows 10 from Microsoft. You can also make a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive or DVD with it, or like I do, mount it in Kyhi's recovery drive to install Windows 10. You don't need a product key - just click the link for "I don't have a product key" on the installation screen that asks for one.

It's due to the upgrade of existing Windows 7 drivers. Probably the chipset drivers that run the USB ports. A clean install of Windows 10 will fix the problem because it replaces those upgraded drivers with fresh drivers for Windows 10 right from ground zero. The problem with trying to fix the problem without a clean install is that we don't know exactly which driver is the problem - and it could also be a problem hiding in the registry resulting from registry entries that worked with old Windows 7 drivers which is now causing a problem with the updated drivers.

I can start windows 7 and get to the desktop but with no Internet connection. I put my original motherboard cd and it tells me it is not compatible with this version of windows but ran windows 7 with that cd when I originally got my motherboard and it worked fine. So I can get to windows 7 desktop with no network adapter hence no Internet or can get to windows 10 choose option screen with no mouse or keyboard function. Ohhhh the evilnessof computers.

    @p3arljam,

This sounds like the perfect time to upgrade to an SSD to me Windows 10 frustration :). Now thinking about all the options, that's REALLY what I would do! If you decide to do that, plug the SSD into SATA 0 port and leave the hard drive disconnected until you get Windows 10 installed on the SSD. Then after you get Windows 10 running nice on the SSD, reconnect the old hard drive to SATA 1 to retrieve files from it and then use it for data storage.

This is what comes up from Asus when I punch in your model.

    P5BV/SAS | Servers & Workstations | ASUS USA

Is this what you have ? If so it does not show any Windows 7 drivers at all, but a Vista driver may work fine.

    I have 3 simple questions.

    1) What was the 1st Operating system you installed on your motherboard ?

    2) Did this motherboard run Windows 7 without any problems ?

    3) Did this motherboard run Windows 10 without any problems after you upgraded it from Windows 7 ?

Do you have any friends that could make you a Windows 10 USB flash drive or DVD and/or Kyhi's recovery USB or DVD? I can mail you DVDs of both.

Well I just got off the phone with Microsoft and they told me if I have no mouse or keyboard at the blue recovery option screen I'm screwed and I can't save anything my only option is to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install. Not the news I wanted to hear.

And, as usual, they were wrong. You can save your data files.

There is no fix, unless we know where you are attaching the USB cables on the computer. Also please fill out your System Spec's at https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra
If you unhook the wireless keyboard while the system is powered down. It should work. You may have to pull the CMOS battery and power to reset the Bios, then go in and set just time and date, along with default boot drive, then Save & Exit and let the system boot with just the wired USB keyboard and mouse.
This keyboard and mouse that you are using in place of the wireless unit, is it a brand new one, borrowed from someone, or one that you had put aside that came with the computer, before you got the wireless keyboard and mouse?

The only other way to check if a hardware issue is to get a copy of Linux Mint burned to a DVD and use that to boot with and test the wired USB keyboard and mouse. Hiren's BootCD will allow you to test for hardware issues.

It's clearly not a BIOS/UEFI or Hardware issue. It is a Windows 10 issue. It is a Windows 10 issue that is causing his computer to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment. If it was a hardware/UEFI/BIOS issue, then he wouldn't be able to boot into UEFI/BIOS and use the mouse/keyboard there.
