Windows 10: Windows 10 hangs in 1-2 minutes, same also in safe mode

It isn't demo version (as far as I know) just the free version. There are the free versions of Macrium and AOMEI backup software also.

If you can make a backup image with any of them then unreadable sectors will be skipped. You can then write that image to new disk. Whether it boots will depend if you (well the software) skipped any OS required files. Don't use any clone disk or sector copy option though as that will not help.

You could even write the image back to the old disk and bad sectors would be automatically skipped but it would be unwise to write to a known bad disk.

If Windows boots at all you can repair it with repair install (just download latest ISO and install it over the top). Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade Installation Upgrade Tutorials

It might be quicker in the end to just to reinstall Windows after saving your data but it is worth a try I guess - it should not take long to check. In any case having the image will be a backup of your data if everything else fails.

 

Did Macrium display cluster run error or something similar preventing a backup image?
Were you able to make progress with drive scans:
Health (SMART)
Benchmark
Full error scan (surface)
Did a repeat chkdsk /x /f /r find bitmap problems?

 

When yesterday I checked Macrium home page I couldn't find any flash bootable version support info.
Earlier I have used Casper Disk backup which supported DVD boot media.

Today I have Windows PE on the flash and first trying Acronis as it's also familiar from the past.
But Acronis 1st attempt to create backup image failed as computer lost SSD when trying to read bad sectors.
Now there is Acronis 2nd run, which has slowed down to 20 hours left when reading bad sectors.
I set Acronis to skip bad sectors but still doesn' t look promising.
I don't know if WindowsPE Macrium Reflect might be more successful.

I'm not sure which software is capable to scan SSD - MHDD and Dell laptop HDD tests failed to find any errors ... while Win restore points were corrupted and Acronis can't read whole disk content.

 

Image creation fails when Acronis True Image 2017 hangs forever after 10 minutes, when 80-90% completed. (option set to ignore bad sectors)

... continues for 50-100 times until full disk scanned.

Next looking for disk imaging software which is capable to skip bad sectors in hope that Windows 10 is capable to fix corrupt files on new SSD.
Any suggestions?

 

See if you can move all important files to another drive.
Then replace the drive.

I have all documents already backed up from this SSD.
Now single purpose is to clone Windows 10 to new SSD and hope it's possible to recover op system on new SSD.
When old SSD is capable to log in with user credentials before hangs, then chances are not very bad.
How to create disk image skipping bad sectors?

 

If the operating system was upgraded during the free upgrade period there should be a digital license.
If you have a digital license you can then replace the hardware and install a new windows 10 using a bootable windows 10 iso.

The software to make backup images needs to have a working drive.
The software found problems with the drive and displayed error messages/codes.
The chkdsk commands were not able to fix the bitmap.

 

Purpose is to maintain unique user settings, which are difficult to restore.
Windows 10 license is not a problem.
When old SSD is capable to log in with user credentials before hangs, then recovering chances are not very bad.

When Macrius didn't offer "skip bad sectors" option, Acronis has option "ignore bad sectors" which might work.
Perhaps due to design it takes too many repetitive readings determining which sectors are bad and therefore imaging lasts forever. But it looked like Acronis had stopped, therefore I decided to halt process after 10-12 hours.

 

I used Macrorit surface scan, which hangs when reaching to bad sector.
Apparently SSD disk is broken or not capable to read full capacity.
Interestingly all applications hang when reach bad sector area - still like firmware/driver bug .
Liteon CV3-CE128-11 SATA firmware has been updated to latest.
Is there anything else left to do to fix SSD drive?
Or just reformat and see if it works then?

When Macrorit portable scanning hangs, there doesn't seem to be any access in WinPE Macrorit log file x:\Program files\Macrorit

is there any Windows PE component access at all, if using Macrorit Portable?
When scan stops PC isn't capable to stop scanning.
Neither ctr-alt-del doesn't work.

 

The drive was not able to be fully tested.

Find the chkdsk report in the event viewer. Copy and paste into notepad. Save to desktop. Post into the thread using one drive or drop box share link.
