  1. Windows 10 Harddrive Crash and Recovery Drive

    Good day,

I have an HP 15-r209ni laptop. It came preloaded with Windows 8.1 64 bit which I upgraded for free to Windows 10.

The hard disk crashed and I had to format the drive. The drive is now formatted and installed and now ready for a fresh Windows installation.

I have a home PC running Windows 10 32 bit from which I created a USB Recovery Drive.

I inserted the USB Recovery Drive into the laptop and started up pressing F11 to enter recovery mode but nothing happens. I don't see any recovery options or the boot menu from the Recovery Drive. All I see is a black screen with:

    "Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk

    Hard disk 3F0

    F2 System Diagnostics

For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

    Please assist, thanks

    Dwayne

    System Recovery on Different HardDrive

I got the same harddrive drive, just to be safe.

But I did try putting the recovery disc on another computer. It would seem to work as I got to the recovery options (but obviously didn't install the image).

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
