Windows 10: Windows 10 has signed me in under emails and accounts?

So i use a local account for my machine on windows 10. Apparently i noticed today after resetting my PC and looking at the start menu i noticed a medal icon with microsoft points. Puzzled i went to settings and apparently under email & accounts under accounts used by other apps my hotmail is there. What is this because i dont recall doing anything that would allow this? And if i click remove im worried its actually going to delete my hotmail account.

If you use a local account, but also have a Microsoft account for signing in to the Store then when you sign in it will by default offer to switch your local account to a Microsoft account. If you click the big inviting 'Next' button you are telling it to switch your local account to a Microsoft account. The option to continue using a local account is in the small print and easily overlooked.

When you reset your PC, it asks if you want to sign in with a Microsoft Account. In Windows Home version, there isn't an option to sign in with a Local account if you signed into your WiFi. If you used a phone number associated with your Microsoft Account then it will show your Hotmail Email address.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
