  1. Windows 10 home 1809 update question

    Greetings

I recently tried to install the 1809 update yesterday via using the check for updates option, I have windows 10 64-bit. However, the installed failed If I'm understanding that if this happens that Windows 10 will just keep the 1803 build. I've ran the windows update trouble shooting tool and ran sfc/scannow and neither could find any issues to fix.

I wanted to update with hopes that the 1809 build would correct some of the BSOD issues I encounter at random times these BSOD happen once I a while and not frequently.

What I'd like to know is since it appears that 1803 seems to be running good will the failed update of 1809 cause any issues?

My PC setup is a private build Intel i7 ****4-bit home version. All drivers are up to date.

    Thank you!

    :)

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
