Windows 10: Windows 10 Home to Pro activation error msg 0x80070057

Hi MS Team,


I've wanted to upgrade my Windows 10 Home to Pro version, but when I press Start after entering activation key that I bought I get this message;





What ever I do I can't upgrade as same message comes again.


I've checked this error code and it says something about drive issue.

My primary drive is 120 GB nvme drive with 43GB used and 75GB of free space as picture below;




It is Dell G7 7790 with 120GB nvme and 1TB HDD storage

Yes, but this thread is about upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro. So the activation troubleshooting and log collector would be collecting information about the current Windows 10 activation, which is in fact Home Edition - not about the product key attempting to be used to upgrade the current Home to Pro.

Microsoft has told @BillionJothi that he has a "bulk" Enterprise key for Windows 10 Pro - which equates to a MAK key. Therefore it is not legitimate for @BillionJothi to activate Windows 10 Pro on their personal computer with it.

And it's interesting that this thread is marked as solved....

Actually, he just went ahead used the illegitimate product key anyway:

I got the key from an online retailer. Yes I did use one of the steps in the tutorial above, more specifically method - To Enter a Product Key and Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro

My key gets accepted however, after extensive research and contacting the seller, I've found that the key only would only work on fresh installs (fine). As i did not want to fresh install and lost all my files, i have gone ahead and tried windows 10 Pro Generic Key (even as shown in the tutorial linked). This key also gets accepted and gives the same error.

ShowKeyPlus check on the Pro key:

Original Edition: Win 10 RTM Professional Retail
EULA Type: Retail

Hi,

I get an error when i key in my W10 Pro key in the 'change product key' option in 'Activation' in setting.

The error is attached:



I have tried:
- Ensuring my internet is working (reconnecting etc)
- Tried multiple times (after restarts etc)
- Ensure PC is fully updated

Any advice? Hoping to upgrade to Pro without losing all my data.
