Windows 10: Windows 10 Home unable to activate, why?

Ok,


So I bought a custom built pc with windows 10 home pre installed.


When I got it all set up and running it asked me to activate windows. I scratched off the silver film of the product sticker to reveal the 25 digit key. I’ve put in the key and now I have a message that says:


windows can’t be activated with this product key. Go to settings for more information. (0xc004e028)


Why?

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack
