  1. Windows 10 Home version 2004

    I have a Dell Inspiron 2350 Desktop and a Dell Inspiron 15 - 3521 Laptop.

I updated the 2350 to the latest Windows 10 Home version 2004, which took a long time but appeared to work.

When complete, I then updated the 3521 laptop. That also took a long time but caused a huge problem.

After the update was complete - I logged in with my password which appeared OK - BUT -

the 'welcome' screen went blank and a small rectangle appeared in the top left which said ...

'Personalized settings' for Windows Media Player, Windows Desktop Update, Google Chrome etc.

It then said - Device ran into a problem and needs to restart, www.windows.com /stopcode 'Critical Process Died'

Then it said, No boot device found - press any key to reboot. Pressing any key simply starts it all again.

The whole process loops back to the login screen and the loop continues through all the above.

To try to solve this problem - I made a boot disk on the 2350 desktop and used it to boot the 3521 laptop.

This allowed me to try various 'fixes' recommended online - like - sfc / scannow, bcd /set, bootrec.exe

and numerous other 'troubleshooting' options. It would not go back to the previous Windows version, it would not

'auto-repair' start-up, it could not see the E: HDD device. Nothing seemed to work.

It appears that the HDD disk with the updated system on it simply is no longer visible at boot time.

HELP - Any help or ideas please ???

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
