Windows 10: Windows 10 Insider, Explorer stops responding accessing files across LAN.

I have a main PC and a laptop, both running the latest Insider build, 19619.


Attempting to copy files from on to the other is ridiculous :

The file transfer speed varies from 10-20meg a second down to zero.

Other times Explorer simple goes 'not responding' for minutes at a time.


Both computers are connected via ethernet.


I have spent countless hours attempting every single suggested 'fix' I can find online with no success.


It shouldn't be this difficult to transfer files from one pc to another!

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

File Explorer frequently stops responding when accessed from another software

I'm running Windows 10 Pro on Surface Book 1.

Whenever a third party software like Chrome or Photoshop or anything accessed File Explorer to save or upload a file, it stops responding for 2 to 3 minutes before starting to respond again. It's very annoying.

Any suggestions as to what could be the cause?

 

Windows Explorer Stops Responding on Certain Folder


Hello. Recently, I had two instances when Windows Explorer stopped responding when I tried to access a folder. The first time, it seemed to focus on two video files and when I deleted the files, the folder was fine. The next time, I could not access the folder. I could access my back up on the NAS drive, but Windows Explorer would stop responding when I tried to access the folder on my secondary hard drive on the computer. I deleted the folder and copied the folder from the NAS drive to the secondary drive, but it yielded the same problem. I renamed the folder and I am now able to access the folder.

Do these two instances suggest a problem with my hard drive or with my current state of Windows 10?
