Windows 10: Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15048 for PC & Build 15047 for Mobile

I've made an ISO from the ESD. Clean installed in Hyper-V. Running fine.

On a totally unrelated matter, I cranked up my IBM PS/1 from 1993, she of the 386SX and 2 Megs of RAM, souped up to a 486SX with, wait for it, 6 Meg of RAM!

I connected it to the Network and let it simmer overnight. Shows up in File Manager now. Whoop!

 

Apparently in this Build, you can do "Holograms" in a simulator in developer mode.

But, I can't seem to get close enough to the app on the wall, in the virtual house, to read it!

 

Used another x86 VM with UUP turned off. Got both esd file and uup files. Made ISO's from both.

 

Interesting, how do you do that ?

 

It's a boring weekend so I took the risk and upgraded from 14393 to 15048. I was Insider but due to unstable versions I always postponed by 7 days. *chuckle

Took all the precautions, like making a system image with macrium, removing additional language packs and clearing the software distribution and started the upgrade.
Everything went smooth, download and preparing took like 10 minutes and 70 minutes from restart to desktop screen.
People keep talking about UUP, where is UUP in settings? It's the menu were you can chose "How updates are delivered? Mine was ON.

On login Edge was up with what's new but everything else was stuck. I managed to log out/in and it was Ok for 5 minutes until the Start menu got stuck. So I did a restart and everything seems ok now, after 2 hours.
There is some lack of optimizations, is not as snappy as AU and sometimes the Start menu is pretty laggy but.. it's fine..

EDIT: Being in a simulator, you're limited to standing in one spot! *Sad

 

MS appears to be planning to provide a cleaner version of their 'Hero' wallpaper for Creator Update.
(Allegedly being used in the Cloud version already)

 

It's asking for a headset ???

If you're done checking it out, Uninstall it from Settings or it will run at every logon!

 

Has anyone else had trouble pairing their iPhone to a laptop after the last two fast ring updates? My iPhone 7 Plus and Dell Inspiron can't see one another now.

 

Wonder which kind of device it would run on. Some of those you stick your phone into ?

I had a system crash. Couldn't boot into insider edition. Had to do a clean install. My version now has an expiration date and shows logo in lower right corner with version, etc I had tried to reinstall from backup of drive from Macrium -- had two back ups of the drive. BOTH BACKUPS were corrupt and so I could not restore from them. Makes me wonder about Macrium which I have used for some time. And, I have used the program successfully to restore backups before. Don't know what happened. I ran checkup on drive to which the backups were stored. No problems reported with drive. Now, I wonder if I should be looking for a different backup program.

 

I have just had another update, 15048 rs2 with a watermark.

 

- same here - earlier on today I got an additional update..
- came up showing the watermark - hence the details in my sig..
