Windows 10: Windows 10 install file extraction, blue screen and various errors

Since the HDD was reformatted, there are no previous images to recover. At this juncture, I am convinced that the problem is not with the HDD but somewhere else. But since I have no diagnostics that run in the bare command prompt, I am just grasping at straws.

 

I know you don't have a W10 operating system that is why I am telling you to use the rescue disk I linked you to. It loads its own operating system called Windows PE. You can then access its menu and programs as I explained earlier. At least give it a try rather than dismissing the advice as worthless.

If you do not have access to another PC you will need the help of a friend to create the boot disk since your laptop is not working.

 

I do have access to 3 other pcs

 

I downloaded that rather large ISO file but I can't figure out how to get it onto a bootable DVD. I tried copying it and the files go over but the LapTop will not boot from it.

I figured out how to create a bootable DVD

 

OK, I managed to boot from the PE DVD and it took me into what appears to be an NT environment. Problem is there is no diagnostics included to diagnose the system. I am able to look at the device manager and find that many systems don't have drivers loaded so I can't get onto the internet to download programs and the USB port is inactive so I can't bring programs over from my other PC. I have downloaded many Drivers from ASUS but don't know how to get them onto the Laptop to install them.

 

This is what you should see when you boot the Rescue disk philc43 linked you to:





You can run chkdsk, dism and sfc from it.
You can run the various bootrec commands if you are having boot problems.
You can boot Macrium Reflect and have it fix boot problems.

Lots of things you can do, depends on what you are trying to fix. Need to take the problems one at a time and work on them.

In your case, start with the basics. Disconnect everything except the drive you are installing to, mouse, keyboard and display. Disconnect all external connections of any kind including the internet. Connect it when the install is completed.

Boot the USB flash drive, delete all partitions on the drive so it's a single unallocated drive then click next and let Windows 10 installer create the partitions it wants. If it gets far enough, create a local account since you will not have an internet connection yet. If the install finishes, then connect to the internet and let it update.

Once it's done, you can create a Microsoft Account to login with if you want (recommended).

I don't see a need for the Rescue Disc unless the above fails.

 

Yep, that is the screen I get. But I can't find anything wrong. Everything I try to run executes just fine. But I cannot install Windows 10 to the hard drive from this program and every time I go back to installing it from the ISO file, I get the same errors I mentioned in the first posting.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I need some sort of diagnostic software that tests the entire system to tell me what is wrong. Nothing I have done so far gives me the slightest clue what is wrong. It only fails when I am trying to load a new installation of the operating system. And it happens on two different drives so I am pretty sure it is not the HDD.

Can you direct me to a piece of freeware diagnostic software that is reliable? Otherwise, I am about to give up. Ii I assigned a moderate value on all the hours I have wasted on this, I could have purchased a new computer by now.

 

I managed to find a memory test routine with instructions for mounting on a bootable DVD. After creating that and running it, I have come to the conclusion that the 4 MB memory stick has got a bad bid on it causing multiple repeatable memory glitches. So I have ordered a replacement and hopefully that will resolve the problem. I will keep this open until I have had a chance to test the new memory.
