Windows 10: Windows 10 Internet Connectivity Problem

I am unable to access certain public internet wifi systems (e.g., libraries, major fast food restaurants).


I receive a message stating that Windows can't comminicate with the device resource or DNS server, even though the device appears to be set up properly, and that a firewall may be the issue.


I tried all of the fixes in "Troubleshooting network problems in Windows 10."


However, only the network reset seemed to help. The computer initially connected me to the internet (via wifi) but abruptly stopped once I clicked on another website.


I am running NordVPN and have noticed that I have better success accessing and remaining on some websites when using the VPN. In some instances, once I stop using VPN on some wifi systems, my wifi access is suddenly discontinued.

Also, check in the "Device Manager" to see if the network adapter is ok.
You may need to un-install it and then "Scan for new devices".

Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

A couple of days ago I upgraded my desktop to windows 10 after getting one of those MS prompts. However now I cannot access the internet and suspect the drivers from the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-ud4 motherboard does not support the internet drivers required. Searching the manufacturers website has not given me any joy either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
