Windows 10: Windows 10 is automatically logging on to last user

Hi All,

I just upgraded to windows 10. I have 3 users (Me as administrator) my wife and kid as normal users.
When my wife has been logged on and she shuts down the PC then it automatically logs on to her account when i start PC again. This is annoying. I would like it to start at the user choice screen så i can choose which user i want to log on.
Is this possible? I have not been able to "fix" this.

I can do b - I backed up the registry first.

I do not understand how to do c.

And it seems like it doesn't really work.

Do you have a real Windows 10 - Home Edition- answer to Stop the Auto Logon of the last user, please?

b. Scroll to: HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

c. Add a value for: DontDisplayLastUserName

I have the same problem. Following Method 1, editing the registry as above does not make any difference. When I try Method 2, typing secpol.msc at the run command, this results in the message ' unable to find secpol...'

To stop Windows from automatically signing into the last user, you will need to add a password to all accounts on the PC.

 

That is truly crap. Has Apple taken over Microsoft - it seems we're being told how we can and can't use our Operating Systems these days.

Neither I nor my family want to type passwords, we just want our own desktop, shortcuts etc. We don't want or need passwords.

The implementation is flawed anyway - none of us have passwords, so it automatically logs in the last user?? Who on earth would want that behaviour on a multi-user OS?

I'll be reverting to 7.
