    Windows 10 (July update) 1903 - Immediate black screen with manufacturers logo - no cursor.


    During the windows 10 1903 update / install process it stalled and the PC screen went black. Apart from displaying the manufacturers logo it goes no further. There are no spinning dots or cursor, just a static black screen and logo.


    Depressing ctrl + alt and delete, or ctrl + alt and B, or windows key + X has no effect.


    Since it won't boot past the initial black screen and manufacturers logo, any attempt to boot via USB Flash Drive or DVD is impossible.... as is any attempt to boot safe mode via 4, F4 and switching off and on three times using the on/off power button to enter Advanced Recovery Environment.


    It is suspected either graphics drivers and/or antivirus might be the source of the problem, but obviously they can't be accessed.


    Given Microsoft are aware of such conflicts, it would make good sense to forewarn before delivering updates so that end users might at least be given an opportunity to prepare for avoidable issues....


    Can anyone suggest a way forward, please....?

    Windows 8.1 ,10240 as well as 10586 builds and i performed all troubleshooting steps and annoyed me.I can say that it is a windows issue and you have to sort it out ,only problem is

    Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

    Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

    They, also, have some other options there, too.
    Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.
