I don't have BF4. I do have BF3, but I think I got that for free. I'm not really much of an FPS guy unless it's a game with a great story like the BioShock series.

  2. I really hope that the phased rollout takes driver compatibility into consideration and delays it to systems with unstable drivers. The Nvidia drivers work great on my 840m so Nvidia was probably prioritizing laptops and such.

  3. That sucks for anyone with Fermi hardware. At least they'll be getting DX12 support eventually, though.

Ya, from Anandtech: "however the more important outcome of this article is that it confirms that Fermi DirectX 12 support is behind schedule"

The two key FPS PC games in recent release are BF 4 and Hardline. I see on the GeForce forums they aren't working in Windows 10 with SLI configuration for any Nvidia hardware, Fermi, Kepler and even Maxwell. "Working on it".

Nvidia, "been working with Microsoft for a long time on Direct X 12 to deliver Game Ready Drivers" certainly wasn't ready for Primetime with the FINAL build of Windows 10.

Many on the Battlelog forums are suggesting keep evaluating from the Web and to wait months before deciding to move to Windows 10. We have up to a year I guess. Can't really argue with that.

  5. PS: just want to say thanks to all the insiders (Blackrose in particular on this thread) for all the feedback up to the launch of Windows 10.

With W10 now out I suspect there will be lots of information related to my PC gaming interests in the "general public domain".

I'm sure if I decide to move to Windows 10 I'll be back to check out one of Brink's fine tutorials on something, as he covers it all in detail.

    Thanks again. Signing out.

Windows 10 Latest Build "For Gamers" Is it Ready for Primetime?

When I changed over to 10, my offline games were all checked one by one and all worked perfectly except one. My old copy of Freelancer (modded). After several attempts to reload, run, uninstall, reload etc. I was ready to give up. I tried one last attempt yesterday morning, but found an nvdia (yellow triangle) error in devices manager, but an update must have just occurred because it asked me to reboot 'to fix errors'.

This I did and found that the yellow triangle had vanished from the video drivers and it now runs perfectly. I have some on line games via Steam, everything is fine, really pleased about that.

I have 2 Gigabyte 760GTX-OC-4GD in SLI. I still have to down clock to avoid DirectX errors. Windows 7 55hz was required now Windows 10 needs 65hz. Battlefield 4 does run much smoother though in Windows 10 with higher frame rates, when I don't get directx errors. Yes I have the latest NVidia driver.

I also noticed my Ram being used more with Battlefield 4. Windows 7 would use 6GB, Windows 10 is using 9-12GB depending on the map.

Definitely a memory leak issue! Frame rates go crazy every time RAM and VRAM usage shoots up. Minimize to desktop and reopen stops it for a while. Video card usage jumps above 4GB when that is all I have. It even showed as using 5GB on the card. The system RAM would shoot up to 12-14 when I have 16GB ram. Didn't happen in Windows 7. Any thought out there. I have all the latest drivers. I am running SLI.

  12. Battlefield 4 has known issues with SLI with the latest Nvidia drivers. Manuel G. has stated on the GeForce forums that they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it.

  14. Well in addition to that new Nvidia hotfix driver release (reported to fix mem leaks and BF4) I see that MS did perhaps kick some butt as many of the Creative drivers are now available (see the link) including my XFI Titanium that were originally planned for October release.

Just might give Win 10 a try now on this gaming desktop. FYI, I updated a 6 year old Dell laptop on the weekend with zero issues but that is a very different scenario with very basic hardware.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

PS: Brink, I only looked quickly but I must say I'm still confused as to how (if at all possible) to get an automatic update scenario in Windows 10 exactly the same as Win 7-8 where I can see all the available updates and I'm never bothered again simply by not selecting them to download or install or until I choose to download and install them. Isn't clear to me that the Group Policy edit does that as I believe someone mentioned you have to run a different executable to get that to happen. Guess I'll be looking at that later.

  15. Well I have the 355.82 Nvidia drivers installed along with the Creative Win 10 XFI Titanium drivers.

Battlefield 3, 4 and the newly purchased (for the second time) Hardline running well for me in Win 10, SLI Kepler. All settings at Ultra. BF3 the same performance as Win 8, BF4, sometimes lower min frame rates but running smooth. Hardline performance is good, slightly better than BF4.

And NO crashes. Both GPU's clocking up to 1167 based on 80 degrees temp control. Both GPU's at 98% usage. Similar to Windows 8, but in Win 8 only with drivers below 347.88. Drivers above would eventually crash with the frostbite engine.

What's pleasing me is in Win 10 I can use the latest Nvidia drivers (so far) with no BF crashes. If it stays that way AU won't be an issue for me*Smile
