Windows 10: Windows 10 Libraries

My laptop recently ran out of space and to make things worse, my backup drive failed.

To fix these issues, I purchased two external drives, a 4tb and 2tb that I'd like to set up as follows:


4tb E Drive will be for backups.

2tb G Drive will house Pictures, Documents, Downloads, Videos, and Music folders. This is where I get confused.


Does C:\Users\USERNAME actually contain the files for Pictures or does it simply point to the G drive where the Pictures folder is located?


If I click on Properties and then Location this is what it shows: C:\Users\USERNAME\Pictures


What I'm trying to avoid is a duplication of files on both C and G and not to run out of space on my C drive.


Hopefully, I've explained this well enough.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Delete a Library in Windows 10

I would suggest you to restore the Libraries and then try deleting the Library folder.

• Press Windows + E keys from the Keyboard to open the
  File Explorer.
• Locate Libraries from the left pane.
• Right click on Libraries and select Restore default libraries option from the list.

Duplicate Music Library Sign Windows 10

Method: Restore default Libraries

I would suggest you try the restore library option and check if it helps. Please back up all the files in the library before trying this, just to make sure you don’t lose any files. Refer these steps:

• Open Windows explorer
• In the left panel, locate Library and right click on it
• Click “restore default libraries” option
• Check if the issue persists.
