    Hello,

    I have a client who requires to run an instance of Windows 10 Pro for the single purpose of running a third party application. No user should ever access directly, except through the third party services. Only the administrator will need to access the instance in order to set it up.


    I'd like to run the instance through the client's own QNAP NAS virtualisation app linux based, but I'm unsure of the exact license required for this use-case.

    Would a windows 10 Pro license suffice? Or is it required to subscribe to Software Assurance or VDA & similar options through a certified Microsoft partner?


    The preference would be toward a single payment, otherwise it will be more convenient to just buy a W10 mini pc to avoid the licensing issues and renewals.

    It's kind of a waste having to buy new hardware just to run an application, though.

    I have multiple PCs all running (licensed) Windows.

    I have added a QNAP NAS, and would like to run a Windows 10 Pro Virtual Machine on the NAS.

    a) Do I need to purchase a license for Win10 on this VM?

    b) Where can I get an Win10 ISO image for installation

    Move windows 10 pro license from virtual machine to physical machine.

    I need to move a windows 10 pro license from a virtual machine to a physical machine. The license has been bought as windows 10 pro not upgrade etc. The thing is that the computer (Mac book pro) where the virtual machine used to live is now dead beyond
    repair and to expensive to use. So I want to install windows 10 on a dell laptop now but I cant deactivate the old license on the virtual machine. Any suggestions?
