    Hi i am looking to buy new laptop from dell and i can customize it


    it ships with Windows 10 HOME

    if i buy Windows 10 PRO it asks for $100 extra


    anyway i have laptop gifted by my brother and it has digital license of microsoft windows 10


    i searched google and run this command


    slmgr /dli

    the result it shows me i have microsoft windows 10 pro installed


    Name : MicrosoftR, Professional edition

    Description : WindowsR Operating System, RETAIL channel

    Partial Product Key : XXXXX

    License status : Licensed


    i have microsoft account login in device and license linked to account, now i have question


    QUESTION : if i buy new dell laptop with Windows 10 HOME and login my account, can i transfer old license and make it PRO ? or i have to buy PRO license again for new computer?

    i bought the license. My laptop was originally loaded with win 7 and was upgraded free couple of months.

    in this case, if i understand you correctly, i can transfer with below steps. Right.?

    let me buy my new laptop and try below.

    and to my question do you have an update.

    does OS upgrades if my activation key is changed.

    Windows 10 upgrade license

    The interesting question is that: the upgrade takes place before 29 of July. If I upgrade the PC (change the MB), and I transfer the Win 8.1 license to this new PC (cause 8.1 is retail FPP), will I be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free? Or a upgrade license must be bought?
