Windows 10: Windows 10 Lost Desktop and Files

Hello,

Recently my computer froze so I turned it off holding the power button down and then restarted it. It took awhile to come back on because it said it was fixing Drive C. When it did come on and I typed my password in, it took a long time to open my desktop, saying it was preparing my desktop. It's version of 'my' desktop had reverted to a blue windows background and deleted several of my files, if not most. Nothing in downloads, videos, quick access, etc. Some stuff I'd had for awhile appeared if I searched for it. There was a blue box that said there was a problem connecting to my account, but that could be fixed if I signed out and then back in. I did. Three times. And no change. I tried a system restore to a point from the previous day, but that didn't work. I got a system error 0x80042329. I don't remember system restore ever working before, since I bought it, but I thought one of the updates might have fixed it and it was worth a shot. I'm trying to take a class and it's pretty frustrating to lose everything. Please help!

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
