Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail App crashes when printing email

Windows 10 Build 1909


Can print from Open Office, Adobe, or any other application.

When you try to print an email, the print preview screen comes up, but it only shows a blank page.

It locks up then crashes/closes the app.


We have tried:

• Changed from standard to Admin account

• Windows updates and driver updates
• Troubleshooting guide from Microsoft which included removing *windowsapps* and reinstalling all essentials
• Removed and re-added email accounts
• Reinstalled printer
• Updated printer drivers
• Reset the Mail and Calendar app
• Uninstall then reinstall the app
• Uninstall using powershell then reinstall
• Changed default Photo Viewer
• SFC scan
• DISM repair
• Removed Office

This is happening to a few people in our organization, and to all users in another org.
Tried System Restore for one user, to the day that updates KB4533002 and KB4530684 were installed, and now they can print.

Uninstalling the updates didn't work, but doing a system restore to before they were installed did.

It isn't really a good solution for a bunch of PCs

Windows 10 Mail app won't print some messages

We appreciate that you perform the steps that we've provided. We'd like to know if you're able to print files when using other applications. Since you mentioned that the issue still persists, we suggest that you uninstall the Windows 10 Mail app
using the Windows PowerShell. To do this, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Click Start, type Windows PowerShell, right-click on it, then select
  Run as administrator.
• Enter the command below:
  • Get-AppxPackage *windowscommunicationsapps* | Remove-AppxPackage, then press
    Enter.

Once done, we suggest that you download theWindows 10 Mail and Calendar app from the
Windows Store.

Get back to us with the result.

 

Windows 10 Mail App Does NOT Print!

UPDATE: I am the original poster. This issue is STILL not fixed almost 6 months later but it seems to be getting closer. I just got the massive update for Windows 10 and while I am still not able to print from the preview part of the mail app (where
you are able to read it to the right of the list of emails) I CAN click the button to open the email in a pop-up window and print from there. So still not perfect but a major step in the right direction at least!!

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
