Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail app - zoom in when composing adds horizontal scrollbar

When composing a message in the mail app, I want my text size to be the default 11px because that seems like a reasonable font size to send. On the other hand, I prefer that my text is a bit larger, which makes it easier to read. If you zoom in when composing a message in the Mail app, you get a horizontal scrollbar, which is a terrible user experience all around.


In Outlook, I can send 11px fonts and set the zoom to 125% (or whatever), and there is still a single vertical scrollbar in the compose window.


Is there a way to zoom in without getting a horizontal scrollbar?

Cannot compose an email in Windows 10 mail app

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

As the issue persists with only the primary account on Mail app, I suggest you to remove your account from Mail app, re-add it and verify once if you are able to compose, reply to emails on Mail app.
