Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail app_IMAP account issue

Hi, I've got two PCs both running Win 10 2004 19041.508


I've successfully set up my business IMAP email account on the Win 10 Mail app one of my PCs, but I can't get the account to work on the other PC Dell Laptop running exactly same Win 10 version and Mail app I've used identical settings, username, port numbers etc. I get an error saying ' you might need to update your password or give your account permission to sync this device'


Can anyone please help with this?

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

• When you say that "but cant switch that account in the app (the original account is listed as an outlook account", what exactly are you referring to?
  
• What are the troubleshooting steps which you have performed to resolve the issue?

I suggest you to refer to the suggestion provided in the Microsoft Help Article about sync settings related issues in Mail app and check if it helps.

Issues with account on mail app

Hi,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your interest on Windows 10.

I suggest you to make outlook account as primary account and check. Please follow the steps below:

• Type mail app in the search box.
• Click on settings in the bottom left corner.
• Click on options.
• Left click on that outlook account and this account will become
  primary account.
