Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail - Multi-Device Sync Issues

I have this problem trying to get Windows 10 Mail working the way I want it.


Basically I have one desktop, a laptop and a surface tablet. I have multiple mail accounts all running through Windows 10 Mail, all using IMAP, Outlook or Exchange. I can send and receive mail without a problem.


My issue is that when I go to work on the laptop or tablet, devices I only use occasionally, the Mail is automatically downloaded but the read status of the email in my account is not being synced. It shows hundreds of emails I've already seen as new and unread, it is particularly a problem for GMail and a couple of other IMAP accounts, as they collect lots of spam which has to be dealt with on each device. For example if I haven't used the tablet for a few days I have hundreds of email messages that I've already read and sorted on the desktop, that show as unread in the Inbox.


I've tried changing some settings, I have Windows Sync enabled in Windows 10 so that my settings replicate, a feature I like and do not want to lose.


So is there a way to just alter the settings on the tablet or laptop so that they are not locally gathering lots of redundant email that has to be sorted?

To assist you better, please provide us the information below:

• When you say that "but cant switch that account in the app (the original account is listed as an outlook account", what exactly are you referring to?
  
• What are the troubleshooting steps which you have performed to resolve the issue?

Mail App no longer syncing

The issue might arise due to mail app corruption, firewall from the security software hindering the network connection or due a proxy server internet connection

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
• Click OK.

• Are you getting any error messages?
