  1. Windows 10 Microsoft update KB4487017 multiple blue screen codes - deleted Windows 2016...

    Hi there,

I've been wrestling for 2 days with updates that occurred 2/15 - the problem update seems to be KB4487017. I received multiple blue screen error codes and the computer seemed to be in an endless loop of trying to repair. I followed the directions from the QR code and uninstalled the update on 2/15 in safe mode. It then automatically re-updated 2/16. When I tried to uninstall, the uninstall failed. I have gone through the process multiple times and tried the startup troubleshooter, and anything else I could see. (I am obviously not a computer expert). I seemed to find some state of normalcy and shut down my computer 2/17. Upon startup, I realized that all of my Microsoft Office products are gone. All my files that are associated with the Microsoft Office applications are present, but they cannot open. I have my Office backup disk, but of course, I can no longer put my fingers on the product key. What happened and how can I fix this? Thank you in advance for any advice!

    Elise

Microsoft testing blue light reduction feature for Windows 10

"Microsoft is slowly revealing new features in its next major update to Windows 10, and it appears blue light reduction feature might be a future addition. The software giant released a new build of Windows 10 testers yesterday with very few visible additions, but Windows enthusiasts have already started picking it apart for clues on new features. Twitter user "Core"has discovered references to a "BlueLightReduction" setting deep within the next major update to Windows 10 (codenamed Redstone 2). It appears to be a setting that will be toggled from the Action Center (notification center) in the operating system.

F.lux has been the most popular option for Windows users looking to reduce blue light in the evenings, but Microsoft's own native toggle will bring this feature to every Windows 10 user. Apple has also integrated a similar feature in iOS 9, but it hasn't announced any plans to bring blue light reduction to Mac OS yet. Microsoft only appears to be testing the feature right now, so there's no guarantee it will ship in the update due early next year. If Microsoft does implement it fully then it will presumably be available on the mobile version of Windows 10, too.

Microsoft to push automatic Windows 10 upgrades in 2016

"Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be automatically rolled out next year to all users of its older operating systems who have selected to receive updates.

Until now, users of Windows 7 and 8 have needed to register to upgrade to Windows 10. But that's about to change: soon the OS will be listed as an 'Optional Update' and -- from 2016 -- a 'recommended' update that will automatically install itself, if users have opted to receive updates in that way.*Shadedshun :shadedshu:

You can opt out of automatic updates to avoid this, but Microsoftsays that "we strongly discourage this in today’s connected world because of the constant risk of internet threats". You can also change your Windows Update settings to install critical updates but not recommended ones. Although it's still going to be possible to avoid installation, Microsoft seems quite determined for everyone to be using Windows 10 in near future.

The roll-out of reserved updates was initially staggered but, according to Microsoft, now Windows "will automatically kick off the upgrade process once you have made a reservation".

As an intermediate stage, Microsoft says that it will "soon" publish Windows 10 as an optional update, not installed by default, but accessible to all users.
