Windows 10 Mouse and Keyboard not working

Same.. windows 10 is bug full. First CD/DVD drive vanishes, then keyboard will not, work and finally the mouse is very erratic... most of the time. I found a fix for the dvd (Registry edit), had to get a new keyboard, (the Microsoft one works in another system but not the Win 10), I have tried a few mouses, (not mice), drivers etc device manager delete reboots. Something I may have to live with... for a time.
NO WONDER THEY ARE GIVING IT AWAY NO ONE WOULD BUY THE WIN 10 CRAP.

  2. just to confirm that if your mouse or keyboard is a usb wireless device and over 5 years old it may not be compatible with windows 10 and will function erratically IE it will work one minute and not the next and is mainly Logitech mice and keyboards that are affected

My own personal findings are that it is not driver related at all and for me a complete mystery when all other mice and keyboards from Microsoft function spot on

i should also add that xp /vista/windows 7 /8.1 are not affected by this problem

Windows 10 Mouse and Keyboard not working

I continue to experience issues with the external mouse and keyboard (lenovo wireless)
So frustrating! It is as though the mouse gets captured. Intermittent responsiveness and then freezing up. Timed games continue to count off seconds so I can never win on that level anymore. I have tried all the fixes in this thread. Drivers are up-to-date, etc. I am very close to ditching the whole thing and converting to Apple!

Well It seems like Windows 10 only acts this way on certain machines. I've installed it on many different machines with No Problem then all of a sudden Bang. One will do this...I think it might have something to do with older machines For some reason windows 10 doesn't like them. Sorry to hear that your still having problem.

I tried this on one PC, but I don't have keyboard or mouse to select the restore functions, I have no idea what else to try.

I use usb keyboard a nd mouse, tried with a wireless one and nothing works, it turns off right after it logs into win 10.

Keyboard only works on bios. Any idea what to do?

    Thanks

Windows 10 Mouse and Keyboard not working

I have Windows 10 as well and suddenly my mouse and keyboard stopped working. I thought the USB ports have gone bad because no matter where I insert the k&m, they would light up but acted like if they were frozen but Windows seemed to load just fine.

I tried to do what one of the members did to fix his and somehow it worked. What he did is that he cut the power pulling off the power cord out while Windows 10 was loading a couple of times and after the second time, Windows booted in recovery mode. From there, he was able to do a system restore.

I tried to do just that but I did not do it twice but only once and just waited for Windows to load normally after the first time cutting power pulling off the cord and this time the keyboard and mouse worked fine. No need for Windows system restore!

After that I installed all available Windows updates and I haven't had that same problem again. *Smile

I had to restore using a CD, because once in the option, I couldn't select anything without the kb or mouse.

Everything seemed fine until I had to choose my language and keyboard settings, mouse and kb are useless. And I tried one 3 years old, but nothing happened.

I even got a USB to PS2 converter... hoped this might help, but did not work at all. Guess I'll just try to go back to windows 7.

  10. having looked at this in my own odd way *chuckle it could just well be in that if your computer is more then 6 years old and is of windows vista built then your Logitech keyboard and mouse will not work via the usb outlet on any windows 10 upgrade

I solved this problem by booting into bios. Go to usb configuration and disable usb2 legacy support. Everyting worked ok since also stopped my pc rebooting after shutdown

Windows 10 Mouse and Keyboard not working

Got this problem with the latest Win 10 update, wireless USB keyboard and mouse worked fine going to BIOS but stopped working when Windows started. Rerestarted for Win (prof) update and USB was corrupted,
How to get inside the computer, Corded PS2 or USB keyboards and mouse are since long gone to the trash.
I have router and home network, connected with laptop and Remote Desktop app, don’t remember what had to be activated on the host computer.
Or if you need Win proff on one of the computers.

    Anyhow, got into Device manager:
One USB controller with exclamation mark
USB this device cannot start. ( Code 10)

    Tryed to update driver;
"Windows encountered a problem installing the software for your device"
"Intel(R) 6 series Chipset family USB Enhanced Host Controller – 1C26"
    "The device cannot start"

    Registry fix:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/943104
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
Deleted UpperFilters/LowerFilters, mine lower had AI Charger

    Restart
    After registry fix;
Keyboard and mouse don’t work, The explanation mark is still on the USB controller, try to update driver but now:
The best driver software for your device is already installed
    HUH
Tried the first of this tips:
3 Ways to Fix: This device cannot start. (Code 10) - YouTube
Voila it worked, closed the remote desktop and logged in.
    One happy computerist

But then I restarted and the problem reoccurred, logged in remotely again and now booth
Intel(R) 6 series Chipset family USB Enhanced Host Controllers was corrupted.
Time for the second fix, unplug and uninstall all USB controllers
Disconnect remote and manually restart PC, on of button.
    All Controllers installed but booth
Intel(R) 6 series Chipset family USB Enhanced Host Controllers had exclamation marks again.
Updated the drivers and things where working again.
Now to see if it can survive another restart.

    No it didn’t.

Time for the 3:e solution in the youtube video, but that’s not available the bios updates for that ASUS motherboard is long gone I think?
Anyhow should try what I probably should have tried at first reset BIOS to Optimized Default.

    Yes, now it worked.
Why am I so stupid, try everything else first until at last doing the obviously right thing. *Rolleyes

DragonFire (#1 at p1) method did not work for me but showed the direction to go.

    My equipment:
    a) miniCSL HTPC: a CSL Narrow Box 32GB / Win 10 - Silent-PC with Intel QuadCore CPU
2166MHz, 32GB SSD, Intel HD Graphics, WLAN, USB, HDMI, microSD, Bluetooth, Windows 10.
It contains basically the engine of the Intel mini PC stick. I call it my "miniCSL HTPC"
    b) 1byone BT Keyboard: a 1byone Bluetooth QWERTZ Keyboard with Multi Touchpad, ready for Windows,
Linux, Android OS Tabs and Smartphones, including batteries.

My goal is not to loose a precious USB slot to Mouse and Keyboard.

    I tried this procedure:
    1. First pairing of 1byone BT Keyboard using the assistance of a USB keyboard and USB mouse.
    2. Then shutwown of the HTPC followed by plug off of the USB keyboard and USB mouse.
    3. Restart of the W10 miniCSL HTPC without any keyboard and any mouse connected.
    4. When W10 Welcome screen comes up and a mouse click or a keyboard click is needed to proceed to the W10 Login screen, then...
    5. >>> Power Off /Power On the 1byone BT Keyboard <<< (This is the trick to know!)
Is it the Power ON that triggers the re-pairing process?
    6. Now, both devices become paired, and stay paired. The 1byone BT Keyboard is ready to do it's job.

This simple method worked for me. No need to turn screws at the W10 and/or BIOS side.

(Procedure done after updating the originally by CSL preinstalled W10 version to Version 10.0 (Build 10240) using Windows Update.
Bluetooth 1byone Keyboard displays driver version 10.0.10240.16515 and fairly old driver date July 21, 2006.)

Simply remember to Power OFF/ON the BT device when W10 needs it's Service.
