. . .backup. . .what is that? I don't backup anything other then my files and personnel data, thus other then that if something happens I enjoy the rebuilding of the system. . .I know I'm a little on the strange side, albeit what can I say. . .*Roflmao2

Backup......oh well, that's something you regret not doing when you loose everything.

Backup......oh well, that's something you regret not doing when you loose everything. You can even lose the backups, so what's te point? Sysprem and imagex/dism are your friends, so you can create an installer image with all of your inportant applications (and Windows updates). For the user data: Separate disks/partitions are just enough, however I just keep everything on the same partition. Still no problem, if I just dirty-install the OS (that is without formatting), because I will still have my files. Only viruses/hardware problems can cause trouble in this case (Yeah, and in some cases the "clean" command in diskpart)

    Hi there

if you have MORE than 1 backup you shouldn't lose them. In any case a windows partition backup with most decent backup programs probably isn't more than around 25 GB -- you could even store the image temporarily on a Micro sd card on a PHONE. A micro 32 GB SDHC card is really cheap as well and you can use one of those SD==>MICROSDHC adapters.

I don't buy the argument that people haven't got spare storage to store a backup. If they really don't then they should BUY a cheap external HDD. Your DATA these days is likely to be worth considerably more than the computer itself. Music, Video, documents etc just for starters.

    Cheers

We are talking about system backup and not data backup. Data backup is a common sense. System backup is an instinct. If you don't have it, you don't have it.

System backup is convenience, data backup is a must.

I also use IObit Uninstaller and have for quite some time. Indeed, I'm very pleased with how many legacy software programs Win 10 is compatible with, especially as I'm running Win 10 on legacy hardware (a 7 year old laptop!). In fact all of my programs save one (Universal Extractor) are running fine under Win 10.

It's nice that I won't have to reinvest in every computer hardware and software piece I own, just to keep my OS fresh. Microsoft got this one right.

I don't know if you remember Vista and driver problems there, but it's heaven now in comparison. There were some hiccups with some HW at the Win8 > 8.1 transition but was patched up soon enough. Most important thing is for MS to give manufacturers all the necessary information about intended changes in DirectX and conditions under which drivers should work because MFGs are the ones responsible for drivers for their own HW. In any case, base of drivers available in MS database are impressive now.

After seeing all of the solutions, then I guess everyone concurs...
Microsoft absolutely needs a better uninstaller program, now let us see if it ever happens.

Absolutely, would spare ones that do not want to use or don't know about third party uninstallers a lot of grief.

Absolutely, would spare ones that do not want to use or don't know about third party uninstallers a lot of grief. Personally I don't want anything to do with anything from IObit, some of their stuff is almost impossible to get rid of.

I don't know, I prefer 3rd party solutions to OS problems - they usually come with added benefits, such as IObit's Uninstaller that looks for 'left over fragments' during the uninstall process. Not having all of one's eggs in one basket!

As for the complaints about IObit, I've never had a problem with either loading crapware or in uninstalling software. It usually requires paying attention during the initial install routine, i.e., declining 'extra' software, an issue that afflicts most freeware these days.
