That's what we are talking about, for MS to make their uninstaller to work same as those applications, getting rid of tails etc.

  2. That's what we are talking about, for MS to make their uninstaller to work same as those applications, getting rid of tails etc. Like was stated before all that Windows program uninstaller does is link to the software's uninstall. I use CCleaner periodically that does a good job of removing registry entries that don't tie to anything. Any 3rd party uninstaller will never know the application like the creator.

Problem IS with the creator of those programs, they don't make it so it gets rid of all the leftovers, by accident or by design. Very few of them uninstall without leaving traces all over the place, files, folders an registry entries. I haven't seen more than few % of programs that got uninstalled on their own without tails. CCleaner plays it too safe to be of any great use. On the other hand, you can use Revo to install programs thru it, it remembers any minute changes to the system and can get rid of every last bit left over. It would be real hit if MS builds something like that into windows since they are full of useless crap anyway. Adding something useful would be nice.

The problem with Revo is if you run an 64 Bit system (as I and many others do), you have to buy the pro version to have it work. IObit doesn't suffer from that major shortcoming.

I installed IObit Uninstaller 4.2 yesterday. The only thing extra the installer wanted to add was the Advanced SystemCare to Optimize your PC with 1 click program. I unchecked the box and installed the Uninstall program. I haven't noticed anything else installed so far.

I'll find out the next time I need to uninstall a program. What's the problem with Revo running in Windows 64bit? I've used it a few times and didn't notice any problems.

I used it the other day while using Win10TP 64bit and there were no issues.

Maybe it's just the advanced features and not the basic features.

It could be, I just use the basic uninstall.

If you go to their site, you'll see that they state Revo isn't for 64 Bit systems unless you buy the Pro version. From what I understand, it can't do the same thorough job on 64 Bit systems, something to do with their tracking ability during installs. You might want to check their site and see what they say.

Odd, I installed the uninstaller not too long ago and it works. Revo simply uninstalls things for me.
    Here, it's installed.

I saw where they say for 64 bit systems you need the pro version of Revo. They don't say why the free version isn't compatible with Windows 64 bit.
(edit) I just checked their page again. I just noticed it say's "Full 64bit support" I take it that means only the basics of the free version works on a 64bit system.

I would bet they want the money for the added feature. Most of my apps/programs are still 32bit so that's not a big issue for me, yet.
