Windows 10: Windows 10 network issue. Restoring Network Connections.

Hi,


I have a couple of users now who have reported that they experience issues while connecting to the network drives. This happens randomly so it is actually hard to reproduce the problem. This has happened when the employee is working remotely and also when the employee is in the office and is hardwired to the network. Error - An Error occurred while reconnecting (Network shared drive.. ex. H to (\\share\path). Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use. This connection has not been restored.


Configuration:

Windows 10 - 1809 (Patched till April 2019).

Lenovo Carbon X1 laptops.

We have 5 network drives and all are mapped through group policies.


Steps already tried:

1) Changed all the cables.

2) Switched laptop.

3) Updated network drivers.

4) Removed and remapped the network drives. (net use)


We have over 100 employees and no one else has reported this problem, except a couple of them.


Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.
