  1. Windows 10 Networking

Greetings. I'm feeling a bit frustrated and overwhelmed at the moment so I'll try to make this as short and sweet as possible. I've been out of the Windows loop for a few years, I haven't really had a need or use for a PC and have been doing all my online activities with Android devices through my cellular. I got a good bonus this year so I decided it would be nice to have a new laptop. I know the tech has changed a lot over the last few years so I did some research and decided I wanted to keep things traditional for myself so I bought a Dell laptop with Windows 10. I looked into Chromebooks and desktops and tablets and all sorts of these new devices and gadgets and technology, but I just wanted another old school Windows computer. The last real computer I owned and spent any considerable amount of time with was also a Dell laptop with Windows Vista, which I absolutely hated. The Dell was nice but Vista was a complete joke to put it nicely. I cut my Windows teeth with 95, mostly 98, and a lot with XP and XP Pro. And then came the Vista! What was that anyway? and Millennium? I didn't even bother with that one. That's about when I got to playing around with Android rooting and modding and it was fun, plus the old Dell was showing it's age and new PC stuff was through the roof expensive. So now I've got this nice new laptop, getting a pretty good feel for Windows 10, and figuring I'll play around with some networking toys so that I can communicate with people and their devices. Seems everybody's got some different type of device, internet connection, and various settings for them. Ok, that's cool. I'm good with my Androids so let's try out this fancy new Windows 10 laptop eh? ****?!

So I read into things a bit and get the impression that Windows 10 Professional has all the good networking stuff. OK, let's get that and give it a try. ****?! I can't even get 2 laptops on the same home wifi network connection to communicate with each other on a very basic level? I'm very disappointed right now and I'm kicking myself in the rear end for spending a bunch of money on this setup only to run into a wall of complete BS! No more AdHoc? no more BASIC abilitiy to simply have 2 Windows 10 PROFESSIONAL computers share files without... I don't even know what to call it! Am I missing something here? I've tried researching it and have tried a couple of the simple methods that people are claiming will work, but they're all dead ends that just DON'T! I don't get it. What's the deal Microsoft?

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
