Windows 10 no HD audio playback device

I gotten a Dell Studio 1558 laptop with windows 10 where the speakers are not being found so no playback device is available. The task bar speaker icon has the dreaded red X. Device Mgr->Sound, video, and game controllers shows the High Definition Audio Device with a driver revision of 10.0.18362.356 whileDevice Mgr->Audio inputs and outputs shows only microphone and line in inputs HD Audio Device driver 10.0.1.18362.1 and no outputs speaker or otherwise. Troubleshooter only says speakers are not plugged in even though they are internal. I've tried just about everything suggested online including reloading the drivers multiple times, uninstalling, etc. to correct this with no luck. I'd like to avoid a re-image if even that would work. Any other suggestions?

    Other Info:

Dell Studio 1558 latest BIOS R301434

Windows 10 Home, version 1909, OS Build 18363.628

    :)

No Playback Device Option in Realtek HD Audio Manager

I would like to switch the audio output between front headset and rear speaker in Realtek HD Audio Manager. I remember before there was a "Playback Device" option in the software. Then, choose "make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" But it missing.

How to separate audio outputs in playback devices

I installed realtek HD audio manager which gave me audio over HDMI to my TV. It recognizes that I have 2 audio devices plugged into analoge (green and black). I've tried different settings, setting both devices as front speakers and one as headphone but they continue to show as a single device (Speakers) in 'playback devices'. I know that it is possible to do this because I was about to swtich between output devices in 'playback devices' before resetting windows.

Looking at google images I see that realtek HD audio manager should have an extra tab 'HD Audio 2nd ouptut device' but I don't have it.
