    Windows 10 No password prompt.


    I successfully upgraded Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 home.

    I was assigned a digital licence and all was working well.

    I then was prompted to login to my microsoft account, which i did and then i could see that my Windows 10 was still a digital licence but was now linked to my microsoft account.

    Then next time i tried to logon i was presented with a screen with a button which says sign in. on clicking sign in, a message appeared showing new user but it did not login and thete was no option to enter a password.

    I have tried to login using safe mode but even when i try to enter safe mode i am presented with the same screen. i select sign in but thete is no option for a password.

    I have my windows 7 repair dvd but hadnt yet created one for windows 10.

    Ive reviewed the posts in this community but i cant get in via safe mode either... the password prompt just doesnt appear. Does anyone have any ideas.

    Forgot Windows 10 password...

    For future reference, there have been reports that this was patched out several weeks back. I found an alternative method doing some registry diving.

    Forgot Windows 10 password...

    Just for future reference, you don't need ntpasswordreset to do this. You just have to boot off the Windows install media(it can even be a Win8 media). Then hit shift+f10 to get a command prompt. Use the command prompt to rename c:/windows/system32/utilman.exe to utilman.bak, then copy cmd.exe to utilman.exe. Reboot into Windows and hit the little easy of access button on the login screen. Enjoy your command prompt with admin level access. You can now use the net user command to reset your password.

    This work on UEFI or legacy installs.
